DIY St. Paddy’s Roundup March 15, 2012

So here’s the thing.  I had planned to make several awesome St. Paddy’s Day items and share them with you here.  But then I was lazy.  I’m sort of addicted to the Game of Thrones books, and I may or may not have been reading for 4 or 5 hours a day.  Don’t judge!

Unfortunately, time is determined to march ahead without me, and March 17th is almost upon us.  So instead of completely copping out, I decided to post links to lots of awesome St. Paddy’s Day recipes and projects so that you can still get your fix.

First of all, not a day goes by that I don’t plug my buddy Erin over at Wicked Vegan.  If you are vegan, (or even if you’re not), you will LOVE her recipe for Guinness Glazed Potatoes and Veggies.

Next, I’m sure you’ll be wanting a recipe for traditional Corned Beef and Cabbage, right?  Well, maybe not so traditional.  If you want to mix it up a bit, head over to the Steamy Kitchen and let them show you how to make Corned Beef that’s cooked in Guinness.  Are you seeing a theme here?  I know I am.

Do you love Bailey’s Irish Cream as much as I do?  Perfect by itself on the rocks, or for mixing with other delightful liquors to come up with creamy, satisfying cocktails.  But it’s expensive, right?  How about making your own?  Let Stef over at the Cupcake Project show you how.

Need a centerpiece for your St. Patty’s Day feast?  Grab some white carnations and some food dye and take a look at this tutorial for dyeing flowers.

What’s an Irish dinner without Irish Soda Bread?  Great for soaking up gravy or slathering with butter.  Grab a recipe here.

How about something for the kiddos?  It can be tough to get them to eat enough fruits and veggies, but if they’re presented in a visually interesting way they’re more likely to go for it.  Check out this tutorial for making a rainbow fruit platter that’s sure to bring your little leprechauns to the table!

And of course, for dessert, who would be without some “Carbomb Cupcakes” from the Smitten Kitchen?  Chocolate Guinness Cupcakes filled with a Jameson ganache and topped with a Bailey’s buttercream.  Sure to satisfy booze hound and sweet freak alike.

So even though I personally failed to bring you some St. Paddy’s day awesomeness, these other fantastic bloggers and websites have stepped in to save the day.  Have fun, but please don’t drink and drive this weekend!
